10 little homes perfect for a mini (romantic) vacay

Mini vacays are one of the best things ever. It’s the perfect way to recharge the batteries, re-connect with your lover,  your mates, or yourself and just get away from the daily grind.

The other half and I are ALL for mini vacays, especially when the bank balance isn’t allowing a sneaky overseas trip or two (which is more often than not). A recent bout of annual leave had us take a couple of mini vacays, with one of our trips being to Robe- one of our favourite seaside towns (and the kings of mini vacay stays!).

If you’re looking for some romantic, charming and eclectic places to cosy up with your lover then check out the list below and get booking- and tell them Dressed in Copper sent you!

Honeyfield Cottage

If you know me well, you know I LOVE the seaside town of Robe. Honeyfield’s is called the ‘ultimate lovers retreat’ for a reason. It’s a 1850’s French country style cottage, boasting a gorgeous interior, open wood fire and is super secluded- you’d never know you are a short drive from town. With a full functioning kitchen, all the amenities thought of and even a outdoor spa, you’ll struggle to leave this place and head home!

Container 65

Yes, it’s a container turned into a minimalist tiny home. Everything you’ll need is in this ply-clad beauty, from a lush queen sized bed, cosy-as couch, modern bathroom amenities and the best filtered coffee. If you book on Saturday night, the coffee roaster next door, Dawn Patrol Coffee, will even give you a latte to start your day right. With view of the vineyards, a deck for when the suns out and a mini bonfire, it’s the perfect stay for all seasons.

Bed in a Shed Too

This eclectic and colourful gem has been my favourite stay in Clare so far. Designed by a local artist, Bed in a Shed too is full of flair, very unique and very comfortable. With a full functioning kitchen, you can choose to spend your days making yourself at home or visit all the wineries and eateries literally at your doorstep. This gem also offers a woodfire, record player and brekky provisions, so you’ll never want to leave.

Trader Jacks

I’ve raved on about this cottage for ages, and will do so until the end of time. So far its been our favourite stay in Robe- maybe because we stayed here when I got engaged. So loved up! The bed is ridiculously comfy, the woodfire is perfection in winter, it’s decorated like a dream and there is a humongous freestanding bath tub in the main living area, so you can feel the heat of the fire or watch a movie FROM THE BATH. Incredible. It’s also smack bang in the middle of town and 2 minutes walk from the beach so you’re in for a winner.

This 1900’s restored house is an absolute gem located in Angaston, in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Excellent location, secluded and spacious, airy and light- Appleton ticks all of the boxes. From the outside it looks like its out of movie, with ivy cascading down the sandstone walls. CABN

Meet Jude. She’s the first of the CABN’s in the Adelaide Hills. She’s all about getting back to nature- set on 180 acres of bushland, surrounded by wildlife with no phone reception. Say what?! Yep, it’s the best way to reconnect in person and have a mini digital detox. The interior boasts a king sized bed, natural timbers, minimalist vibes and big windows, bringing the outdoors in. There’s also cooking supplies, a compostable toilet (not a long drop, don’t stress), board games and a space for a outdoor fire. They are also dog friendly, so you can bring the second (or first) love of your life.

Southern Ocean Lodge

It’s been years since I’ve visited Kangaroo Island, but when I do visit, this fancy pants accommodation is on my radar. It is quite pricey, but with all the bells and whistles, and rooms perched on top of a cliff with uninterrupted views of the ocean, it looks to be worth every cent. Expect ultimate luxury, fireplaces, big bathtubs, spa treatments and even a DIY cocktail bar. They also boast a fine dining restaurant run by Executive Chef Asher Blackford, who makes beautiful food using locally sourced and sustainable produce. Time to start saving my pennies and plan a trip!

Situated in the Stringybark Forest in the Deep Creek Conservation park, these designed houses by Max Pritchard bring the outdoors in, making the gorgeous forest the talking point of the home. These homes are sustainably and environmentally friendly, but still boast all the luxuries- a wood fire, full functioning kitchen, continental breakfast and bespoke finishes are a few of the things you can expect.
