Seaside vibes, cheery interior and one of the best smashed avos to grace my lips (and hips).
Say ahoy to one of my favourites in Henley Beach, 303 By The Sea.
Located a stone throw away from the square, 303 By The Sea is a charming little café serving delicious breakfasts and brunch, as well as a selection of options for lunch. This gem suits its surroundings of Henley Beach perfectly- think a bright blue door, high ceilings, white walls, timber features and huge glass windows. There’s paddleboards and coastal finds on the walls and plenty of seating outside when the sun is delivering the goods.
The menu is extensive and is a long-brunch-lovers delight- there’s everything from bagels + big breakfasts and sweeter options like French toast and banana bread. We’ve been here on a few occasions now and are slowly making our way through the menu- and every time we struggle to pick what to eat!
On this occasion, well as always, we had coffee. Coffee snobs will be kept rather happy as the brews here are fantastic- no sugars required. If you’re not a coffee person then you’ll be excited to know that they stock a selection of locally made teas by Hygge Organic, which are equally as delicious. They also have a huge list of freshly made juices and smoothies to keep the healthy folk happy- their Watermelon Strawberry Mojito, Jungle Juice and their Green Machine juices are current my go-tos.
As a creature of habit, and a smashed avo addict, I ordered the smashed avocado with beetroot, greens, poached eggs and dukkah. This time around I got the eggs swapped for chorizo, and let’s just say that was a delicious choice. There was plenty of avo to go around (so much so I actually left some at the end), and the beetroot was a nice added touch. Especially because I am also beetroot mad.
My other half had the Tunisian baked eggs with herb sumac, bulgur salad, pita and yoghurt. These aren’t your traditional baked eggs with beans and chorizo, they have a little bit of a kick to them with the addition of a tasty salad and are served with a side of grilled pita to dunk in the eggs. My partner devoured these rather quick and after tasting them I know why- I’ll be putting them on my to-order-list next time if there still on the menu!
If you’re looking for somewhere beach-side to have brunch then look no further than 303- this place has an adaptable and changing seasonal menu and you’ll find something for everyone. Kids included.
You can find 303 By The Sea at 303 Seaview Road, Henley Beach.
