The perfect beachside holiday house in Port Fairy, Victoria
If you are a large group, cosy couple of someone who just loves the seaside, then you need to get acquainted with 10 Ocean Drive in Port Fairy right now!
Port Fairy is one of my favourite seaside towns in Victoria, about 4 hours away from Melbourne and about 7 hours from Adelaide. The town itself is quaint, relaxing and has a sense of calm. It’s the ultimate place for families, nature lovers or those just wanting to take some time out to chill. It feels safe, is a great place for kids to run around and there’s walking trails that take you just about anywhere in the town, so if you have bikes be sure to bring them.
We were lucky enough to be hosted by Hearns Accomodation for our stay in Port Fairy, and let’s just say the home we stayed in was all about LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Right on the esplanade, with a stunning view of Pea Soup beach, this house is the ultimate seaside getaway. With the bedrooms and lounge room having an uninterrupted view of the ocean, you know you’re onto a winner.
Sleeping 11, this entertainers delight has got everything you could ever need for a weekend away or extended stay. There’s two sets of bunk beds for the kids (one being in a detached area out the back) and three queen and king sized beds- so there’s no fighting over who has what bed. You’ll find touches of luxury in every bedroom, with gorgeous bed linen, giant mattresses, TV’s in each room and modern furnishings.
Two bathrooms, one semi-attached to the main lounge room, means plenty of space for everyone to get ready. I fell in love with the upstairs bathroom- the colourful patterned tiles and bath/shower combo is a match made in heaven- I soaked away for a good hour- and the ‘shampoo shelf’ has quickly become my ‘wine glass shelf’.
The house itself has a coastal, modern feel, with white walls throughout and plenty of pops of colour. Exposed brick work, leather, linen and rattan furniture gives it a warm and retro vibe, with eclectic throws and olive green tub chairs adding to the personality of the home. The loungeroom has a gas log fire and and plenty of seating, with two huge windows taking in uninterrupted views of the ocean.
The renovated kitchen area/dining area also offers plenty of seating, with a long table as well as seating under the breakfast bench. The kitchen has all the bells and whistles, with everything you need to whip up a big breakfast or roast dinner. All the little things have been thought of in this gem, from Tupperware containers for picnic lunches to cheese knives for platters on the deck. You won’t need to bring a thing from home!
When the weather is warmer then you are going to be living out the back- the heated swim spa pool and fully furbished outdoor area is an absolute winner. It may have been the middle of winter but we still snuck in a cheeky swim, and it was so much fun. If the weather is cooler then you’ll be kept warm inside, with most rooms having reverse cycle heating/cooling, so you’ll be kept cosy or cool.
We absolutely loved our stay in this home. The location is fabulous, the view of the ocean is picture perfect and the interior is beautiful. There are not many homes that you could recommend to families, a group of mates or a couple on a romantic vacay, but this one ticks ALL the boxes!
