It’s that time again. PPH- perfect platter hunting time.
It’s been a while between posts, but I have recently found some incredible eateries that do some equally impressive platters. This time around we rekindle my love for the Fleurieu, spend a little bit of time in the East End of Adelaide and get cozy at two of my favourite wineries in the Mclaren Vale Wine Region. So without further ado, let’s get hunting!
Alexandrina Cheese Company
On top of green pastures, the Alexandrina Cheese Company is a cheese lovers heaven. You can see the cheese making process, dabble in some incredible milkshakes and coffees and sample as much cheese as you can handle. There are a few platters to choose from depending on the size of your group- the pickers plate for one, or the Fleurieu Feast which feeds up to 6. When we visited we chose the Fleurieu Feast (which fed 4 hungry adults) and contained 5 Alexandrina cheeses, local kalamata olives, dill gherkins, spring gully balsamic pickled onions, Alexandrina pantry apple chutney, warmed pita bread and water crackers.

Angove Family Winemakers
If you are after a winery in the heart of the Mclaren Vale wine region with incredible views, fantastic wines and platters to die for then look no further than Angove. This winery is a winner and is a go to spot when interstate family come to visit- it showcases incredible regional produce in a setting like no other. Their platters easily feed 2 and consist of chutneys, seafood, cured meats, hard and soft cheese and fresh bread, and are best enjoyed out on the deck in the sunshine.

East End Cellars
Hidden away in the East End of Adelaide, these cellars are the best place to go to for all things wine, spirits and little bites to eat. If you are after a wine from South Australia, something a little out of the ordinary or are just looking for a place to kick up the heels and watch the world go by then this is the spot. On their platter front they serve a selection of meats and cheeses served with bread and assorted chutneys and pickles. They dish them out in three different sizes, so no matter how big your crew, you will be catered for. Plates start from $22 for a small platter and are best served with a glass of Rose.

Blessed Cheese
Popular with bike riders, families, foodies and just about anyone, Blessed Cheese is the home of big breakfasts, strong coffee and of course, cheese. Their ploughmans platter is a no brainer and feeds two people with ease. Snack on a selection of hard and soft cheeses from their overflowing cheese cabinets, as well as a range of gherkins, olives, cold meats, pickled vegetables and toasted bread. If platters arn’t your thing (I won’t judge) then try their big breakfasts, goats curd on toast or the blessed benny.

Fox Creek Wines
A boutique and cosy cellar door, Fox Creek Wines sits surrounded by vines and a beautiful garden filled with locally made artwork and garden furniture. They do a mean sparkling shiraz and have a very impressive wine list, which pairs well with their delicious platter. It feeds two and is $25, and includes a Paris Creek Cheddar, Paris Creek’s Organic Nuage Blanc, Lloyd Brothers Traditional Tapenade, Tucker’s Natural Crackers (gluten free alternative available) and Dried Fruits and nuts. There is an option of swapping and adding items- we swapped the tapenade for Shiraz Jelly and added dehydrated oranges dipped in chocolate. All their products are sourced from SA small businesses, which gives you another reason to visit (not that you need it).
