Those who know me know that I am mega passionate about two things- the Fleurieu Peninsula and Supporting local.

So many moons ago when I discovered a business that ticks of those boxes, and make healthy treats that are actually good for you I was excited to say the least.

I give to you- Sunshine Ice Blocks.

Sunshine Iceblocks was started in 2012 by Courtney and Brendan, aka the ultimate iceblock duo. Both live on the Fleurieu Peninsula, both very passionate about healthy lifestyles and promoting good health for their children. Their business is built on principles that they really believe in, and their little tackers are the main driving force behind the business. They wanted to make a product that they would be happy to give their own children- one that had no nasties or a long list of ingredients on the packet that no one could understand.

Along with it being healthy, they also has a large focus on sustainability, with all their packaging being compostable and their food waste being given to their animals at their property or composted on site. They are big backers in supporting local and small businesses, with more than 95% of their ingredients being sourced within South Australia, a large amount of that being from the Fleurieu Peninsula.

One of the best things about this business is that their iceblocks are always changing- they use seasonal produce so from Summer to Winter you will always find yourself with something different (and yes its totally OK to eat iceblocks in winter). Some of my all time favourites include the Strawberry, Blackberry Lemonade, Lavender Lemonade and Nectarine and Orange.

Over the last few months I’ve had the pleasure of tracking down the Sunshine Iceblocks van at my local Willunga Farmers Market. They never disappoint. On top of their delicious iceblocks they also have their shaved ice, as well as their new addition- Gelati and sorbet! The vanilla is ridiculously good, but the coffee- its AMAZING.

If you’re looking for a sweet treat for the kids (big and little), or someone to cater your event with delicious goodies then get in touch with the iceblock crew. These guys are as nice as pie and can even make alcoholic iceblocks- hello perfect for weddings in the Summer.

You can find Sunshine Iceblocks most Saturdays at the Willunga Farmers Market, Sundays at the Adelaide Farmers Market and at various events over the weekends in the warmer months.
