Shadow Creek McLaren Vale
If you are looking for the ultimate romantic getaway in the heart of McLaren Vale, oozing luxury but still full of country charm, then Shadow Creek is the place for you.
Nestled away on 45 acres, surrounded by rows of vineyards and lush green paddocks and an outlook over the Fleurieu to the ocean, this home away from home boasts incredible views from every room.
As soon as we drove onto the property we fell in love. This place is DIVINE.
The love continued as soon as we walked in the door. Everything has been so well thought of here, from the layout of the property (making sure you soak in every inch of that view), to the warm furnishings and little touches making the place extra special. We are both huge lovers of an open fireplace, so to see that it was in both the bedroom and the living area was a huge bonus. There’s plenty of fancy features here too, from electric blinds both indoor and out, plenty of techy goodness and high end applicances in the kitchen- including one beautiful wine fridge (that’s stocked, yes thanks!)
The lush fittings flow through to the bathroom, where there’s a double shower on offer and one very deep bath. I’m a sucker for a huge bath and long showers, so to see the bath fancy bubbles and soaps was a god send, especially for this bloated pregnant bod!
We planned to head out for the evening, but decided to have a late lunch as we had been provided provisions for a local produce platter. We pulled up a chair outside, soaked in the lush pastures and said hi to the locals (some very chatty birds- I’ve also heard their sheep visit too if you’re lucky!)
If cheeses, cured meats, biscuits, locally roasted almonds and truffle infused salami are your thing then you will LOVE this. The cheese lasted on the plate for less than 5 minutes and I had to restrain myself from sneaking some of that salami! You don’t even have to drive to the bottle shop to get yourself a drink to go with it, with the fridge filled with some of the best McLaren Vale wines and craft beers for you to sample. The legends who run this accommodation even spoilt us with non alcoholic Maggie Beer sparkling so I didn’t feel left out- so sweet!
In terms of brekky, the morning is made super easy with a range of breakfast provisions on offer. If we didn’t sleep in (whoops) we would have had opted for a full English- Adelaide Hills bacon, free range eggs and crusty bread on offer. Yes please! Our sleep in meant a quick snack of Fleurieu yoghurt on the deck with a juice, but it was the perfect way to finish our stay.
Our stay was short but sweet, but if you’re looking at staying for a little longer than I highly recommend using their picnic pack. A hamper, picnic rug, esky and towels are all provided- I would bundle it in the car, head to Port Willunga or Silver Sands beach and make an afternoon of it. You’ll be treated to some of the best views the Fleurieu has to offer.
The only thing that was hard work here was getting out of bed. If I could have punched that bed linen I would have.
If you’re looking for a super romantic, luxurious and simply-stunning place to stay, you need to visit Shadow Creek. You will not be disappointed!
